SIX

Regina showered with Greta, washing and drying her gently. She walked her to the bed and returned to the bath, sanitizing the porcelain dildo they'd shared and returning it to its luxurious velvet bag before stowing it in the drawer beside Greta's bag. They'd both played with it many times, but it was more Greta's and should remain with her now, Regina knew. She watched Greta in the bed for a moment before she joined her friend. Greta was exhausted, and somehow fragile from the ménage they'd enjoyed. Regina drew her close and Greta rested her head on Regina's shoulder as they spooned.

Regina drifted off as Greta had, then jerked awake a few minutes later when Luc & Julio's helicopter came to life in the distance.

By the time she managed to get out of the bed, find an appropriate outfit, and dress in Greta's clothes, the chopper was already leaving the yacht behind. She practically ran to her suite, but all she found was Julio, waiting for her at the doorway of her study.

"What's happened?" she asked bluntly.

"Luc and your Mario went with the pilot back to Sicily," he said calmly.

Regina stared at him in disbelief. "Mario?" she asked faintly. He had not indicated in any way that he was planning to leave her. What had he said? There will be plenty of time to look after me, later. "Did he ask to leave me, or did you send him to Sicily to have him murdered, uncle?"

Julio raised his brows at her. "You think Luc or I would dishonor you by such an action? Of course not. He volunteered to go to Sicily to take care of this problem of your Uncle Antonio. He does this to protect you from the schemes of that testa di cazzo. But it will also allow him to take a place for himself in the family, and to make it possible to be your enforcer and guard, instead of Savaggio's consigliere. He is a well-respected tactician and politician, and understands the Cosa Nostra. It will be a good arrangement."

Regina felt her heart seize. Mario had gone willingly to be her advocate and enforcer, but without consulting her. She didn't know if she was angry or terrified, and went with both. She ran to her desk and lifted her phone. "Captain Drivas," she said, when her call was answered. "I apologize for waking you. We need to return to Sicily, as quickly as possible." On the other end of the phone, the captain didn't ask questions but said he would go up to the bridge and change course immediately. She replaced the phone, gestured her uncle to sit, and said grimly, "Explain, now."
